Hello dear studio friends, Marie the designer here. When the silk pocket squares featuring my floral work were first coming to light, they were all I could think about. It made my heart beat to the flurried pace of artistic thrill. Having the opportunity to bring the flowers I am so passionate about creating to a brand new audience, in a brand new medium, is a designer's dream come true.

I knew I wanted to bring an unseen edge to the floral for these designs. Morphing images of my work into patterns that were not necessarily obvious as to what they were derived from. Something that could be holding a hidden secret or symbolic meaning that only the wearer would know.

The part of the story which is rather incredible begins when I was just starting to ponder how I would want these morphed floral pocket squares to be styled in a future photo shoot. Somewhere around that time, I came across a short promotion for the Netflix series Lucifer. There he was, Tom Ellis impeccably dressed as the character of Lucifer Morningstar. That moment gifted me an Olympic level bar of style that I remember clearly bookmarking in my mind as inspiration for a photo shoot. I could never have known at the time that the paths of my work and this very show would soon cross.

It wasn't long after, the studio received an order for several pocket squares from the massively talented costume designer Agata Maszkiewicz. I am deeply honored that she chose my pieces. It would be several months before I could share the news but thankfully I am accustomed to that and it was well worth the wait my friends.

Much of my floral art contains hidden themes and inspiration that I tell through color and symbolism. Beacon is a fine art couture bouquet that is meant to represent unwavering strength and direction in a dark storm.

Beacon Fine Art Couture Bouquet

The Beacon bouquet took three months to create by hand. Each silk fabric petal was cut and pressed in the studio using antique tools. Large hand painted silk satin roses cup dense Swarovski crystal centers. Solid bronze metal leaves cast exclusively for the studio are a rarity not only in material but also in form. Each one is an impression created using antique leaf presses saved from destruction and resurrected for use only in this studio. Beacon also features tiny opal gemstones amongst the Swarovski crystal clusters of black diamond shading.

The amazing set costumer for Lucifer is Joshua Coleman and I adore the way he folds the pocket squares differently to really show off the versatility.

Full Design View of the Beacon Pocket Square

I went through several versions of the Beacon pocket square before settling on this pattern. It had the visual "edge factor" I was looking for. The way the leaves and crystals formed sharp points paired with the balance of the grey roses and black ground. Look closely enough and you can see the flowers but they are not the front and center element of this design. To me it is a feeling of ordered strength, a command of conjured beauty meets bite.

It's not always easy to be certain that the pocket square I am looking at in a scene is my design due to angle and lighting but this glorious moment left no question.

The Morphed Steel pocket square is incredibly energetic. Blue silk flowers from the studio as seen through a lens of electricity.

Couture Source Floral

This is the source floral for the Morphed Steel silk pocket square. Blue silk velvet petals with a blue dupioni silk reverse that is centered with a silver crystal flourish. Each petal is cut and pressed by hand in the studio.
