The atelier

In a private studio in Washington State, Marie Livet makes flowers that do not wilt. Petals are cut in silk and shaped in metal, one at a time, by hand. Each is given its curve and its life before it joins the others.

The work is quiet, slow and exacting, and it cannot be hurried. Hours pass over a single petal.

The tools

Every flower begins with Victorian-era tools exclusive to the studio. They are paired with private techniques Marie has refined over many years. Together they produce forms that modern methods cannot copy, and that cannot be found anywhere else.

Each its own

Like a painting, every couture piece from the studio has its own nature. A similar piece may be made again, but never the same one, because each flower is shaped by hand and takes its own form. Like a brushstroke, each petal carries the moment it was made. Heirloom bouquets are composed one at a time and carry a character no other piece can repeat. From the same library of handmade flowers come the house's silk, studio art and jewelry, among them the Prosperity Leaf, the studio's signature, a symbol of growth.

The life

Livet is Norwegian for "the life." The pieces are made for the moments that make one: a wedding, an anniversary, a beginning. They are meant to be kept, worn and handed down, so the hand that made them is remembered for generations. An heirloom begins the day it is first held, and long after the day, it stays.

On screen and in print

The studio's work has appeared on runways, on screen and in print. Marie Livet silk has appeared in Netflix's The Diplomat and Lucifer, and the heirloom florals in Town & Country Weddings.
